Our volunteers working behind-the-scenes are critical to the success of our hockey association and most importantly for our players.  We are looking for volunteers to join the Executive in the roles listed below.  These are all ex officio member (non-voting) roles with a 1-year commitment term.

Registrar Job Posting

The Registrar is a very important role for the smooth operations of the association.  Timeliness, accuracy and follow through are critical. 


Responsibilities

  • Monitor the Registrar email account and field enquiries in a timely manner
  • Explain to members the OHF rules, policies and procedures, and utilize other informed Executive team members to support in translating policies into practice
  • Complete NRP and permission to skate forms
  • Open registration
  • Form rosters for all teams by ensuring all requirements are met by players and bench staff
  • Manage late registrations
  • Provide registration and roster updates to the Executive as required
  • Use the OMHA and Hockey Canada websites to:
    • submit teams and validate registrations
    • open registration
    • enter fees and schedule dates
    • load documentation for rosters
    • maintain and obtain rosters for teams
    • run reports

Appointment Terms and Time Commitment Required

  • The Registrar is appointed for a term of 12 months
  • The estimated time commitment is approximately 6 hours per month throughout the whole calendar year with higher peaks in May-June and Sept-Nov months due to registration needs
  • In addition, the Registrar will also be required to:
    • Attend monthly Executive team meetings (approx. 1.5 hours in length)
    • Attend the EHMHA Annual General Meeting (AGM) each spring (2 hours in length)

Risk Director Job Posting

The Risk Director is a very important role for managing risk to the association and most importantly for our players and volunteers.  Timeliness and follow-through are critical. 


Responsibilities

  • Implement and enforce all OMHA Risk Management Programs
  • Ensure every bench staff has completed police checks
  • Support the Executive to suspend bench staff that have not completed their police checks on time
  • Manage the process for accidents/injuries and returning to play in partnership with trainers and parents/players
  • Monitor the Risk email account and field enquiries in a timely manner

Appointment Terms and Time Commitment Required

  • The Risk Director is appointed for a term of 12 months
  • The estimated time commitment is approximately 4 hours per month throughout the whole calendar year with peak in Aug-Sept due to opening season activity
  • In addition, the Risk Director will also be required to:
    • Attend monthly Executive team meetings (approx. 1.5 hours in length)
    • Attend the EHMHA Annual General Meeting (AGM) each spring (2 hours in length)

Coaching Director Job Posting

This role is dedicated to the support and development of all coaches across CHIPs, Local League and Rep teams.  Having an understanding of youth hockey player development, with the ability to partner with coaches at varying levels of experience are keys to success in this role.


Responsibilities

  • Attend games and practices to provide guidance to coaches in support of their coach development
  • Liaise with the House League Hockey Director, Representative Hockey Director, Technical Director and the CHIP Director on what they need in support of their coaches
  • Establish, implement and evaluate on ice and off ice coaching development programs
  • Build and maintain a coach library
  • Recruit and train volunteer bench staff
  • Monitor the Coaching Director email account and field enquiries in a timely manner

Appointment Terms and Time Commitment Required

  • The Coaching Director is appointed for a term of 12 months
  • The estimated time commitment is approximately 8 hours per month throughout the whole calendar year
  • In addition, the Coaching Director will also be required to:
    • Attend monthly Executive team meetings (approx. 1.5 hours in length)
    • Attend the EHMHA Annual General Meeting (AGM) each spring (2 hours in length)

Volunteer Coordinator Job Posting


This role is dedicated to finding and supporting a community of volunteers for the association.


Responsibilities

  • Recruit Executive, Bench Staff and Event volunteers
  • Partner with Executive to understand their volunteer needs for bench staff, special events such as Champs day, grading day, try-outs etc.
  • Help the Executive coordinate larger events
  • Create a list of regular volunteers that can be drawn from when needed
  • Work with the Communications Director on postings for volunteer needs
  • Celebrate and appreciate our volunteers
  • Monitor the Volunteer Coordinator email account and field enquiries in a timely manner

Appointment Terms and Time Commitment Required

  • The Volunteer Coordinator is appointed for a term of 12 months
  • The estimated time commitment is approximately 2-3 hours per month throughout the whole calendar year with peaks in March-Sept for closing and opening season events
