About EHMHA (Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association)

PrintAbout EHMHA

The Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association (EHMHA) is a not-for-profit organization. It is one of approximately two hundred and fifty active member minor hockey associations of the Ontario Minor Hockey Association (OMHA), which was founded in 1935.  We are a community based, volunteer run, inclusive organization, welcoming players of all levels and abilities.  We offer programs starting at U5 for learn to skate, local league and representative programs.  We are a proud member of Hockey Canada, and follow they Hockey Canada Long Term Player Development Model, the focus of which is on development and enjoyment and will lay the foundation for local, national and international success long into the future.

Competition – Our BB teams compete in the Tri-County Minor Hockey League (TCMHL), which was founded in 1957.  The TCMHL operates under the auspices of Hockey Canada and the OMHA.  In fact, the vast majority of minor hockey players in Canada play under the Hockey Canada umbrella.  Our Local League teams play against other centres in our area, including Orangeville & Caledon.

Game and practice times and locations – Our home rinks are in Hillsburgh & Erin.  We are the largest user of ice time in our town and for the most part, often get priority, when it comes to game and practice times and locations.

Coach, manager and trainer certifications – All of our coaches, managers and trainers are certified and approved by Hockey Canada. Police checks are required by all on-ice volunteers and all EHMHA Rules of Operation are governed by the EHMHA By-Laws, which is in turn governed by the OMHA rules of operation.

Insurance – Hockey Canada has a proven, reliable insurance system from which our players benefit.

Cost – Costs vary depending on which level you play in, for the 2021/22 season, costs for our U5/7 Development Programs are $350 & $450 respectively, our Local League player fees are $745.  Each player’s basic registration fee for our rep teams is on average $1,200.00.  It is payable regardless of whether the player’s parent is a coach, manager, trainer or executive member. We do not offer discounts, other than to families registering three (3) or more children, or barter or trade coaching, managing or training services in exchange for registration fees.  We operate on a not-for-profit basis and can provide audited financial statements as requested.  To learn more about each of our programs click the link below.

Governance - The Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Assocation is governed by a volunteer Board of Directors, made up of 17 positions. We encourage all members to be involved with our organization, whether it's on the ice or behind the scenes.

Our Board of Directors has put together a Strategic Plan which is the guide for all our operations.
