Local League (Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association)

PrintLocal League
Program Overview

We are very excited to announce that we have partnered with Orangeville Minor Hockey for the 2019/20 season and they are the centre we will be playing against.  As in previous years, we will form Erin teams and have home games and practices at our local arenas.

Our Local League program offers kids the opportunity to play recreational hockey regardless of their abilities. Our volunteers share the common goal of providing the children an atmosphere where good sportsmanship prevails above all else.

How are Local League teams set up?
All Local League players participate in a grading session in the fall. Coaches are in the stands assessing players and then work together to draft their teams.

What night will my practices be?
The Preliminary Schedule for this season will be available very soon, teams will have 1 practice during the week, and a game on Sundays.

Following  Orangevilles' LL schedule, we will have most games on Sundays, with U18 playing on Tuesday nights.

If you have any questions please contact our Local League Director: [email protected]

When does Grading take place?
TBD for 2021/22 Season

What Age Group is my child in?

2021/22 Season:

* Important note for next year.

We want to make sure all 2011 aged players know what is going to be happening next year 2019/2020.  As per HockeyCanada, all 2011 players will be required to play half ice for the first half of the year and then move to full ice for the rest of the year. This is a mandate from Hockey Canada for the 2019/2020 season. All hockey associations will be following this guideline.

If you are interested in coaching, please fill out our online form (found in theLL Bench Staff resources) or contact [email protected] for more information and to receive an application form.
When does the Local League season run?
The Local League season starts with grading in early September and runs until Champs Day in late March. There is no Local League hockey scheduled during the Christmas Break or March Break.

How many games and practices do we get with Local League hockey?
Local League teams are budgeted for approximately 20 hours of shared ice practices and 20 games over the course of the season. All levels above Atom will play 10-10-12 minute periods. Every effort is made to give all teams a balanced schedule for home and away games. Local League teams will usually be scheduled for 1 practice and 1 game each week, however some weeks a local league team may have a practice or game.
Is Local League open to both boys and girls?
All EHMHA hockey teams are open to both boys and girls. For ages PeeWee and up, female players will be provided with a separate dressing room.  (see also Dressing Room Policy)
How far do the Local League teams travel?
Local league games will consist of home and away games. Home games are played in either Erin or Hillsburgh against another Erin team or an Orangeville team. Away games are played in Orangeville against Orangeville teams only. Orangeville typically has 5-7 teams in each division.
