Program Overview

New starting 2018-2019...Erin Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association is partnering with the Acton Hockey Association to form a 2-Centre Local League!

Our Local League program offers kids the opportunity to play recreational hockey regardless of their abilities. Our volunteers share the common goal of providing the children an atmosphere where good sportsmanship prevails above all else.

What Age Group is my child in?

2018/19 Season:

* Tyke/Novice age groups(2010/2011):

The EHMHA has decided to combine the two age groups to make up our Novice teams. Now that we will be playing Acton,weare aligning ourselves with them to make the Novice Division the same. The children will play full ice this year.

Important note for next year.

We want to make sure all 2011 aged players know what is going to be happening next year 2019/2020.As per HockeyCanada, all 2011 players will be required to play half ice for the first half of the year and then move to full ice for the rest oftheyear. This is a mandate from Hockey Canada for the 2019/2020 season. All hockey associations will be following thisguideline.

How can I become a local league coach or other bench staff?

Coaches are appointed by the Local League Director. Local League coach selections are generally not finalized until after the rep tryouts. If you are interested in coaching, please fill out our online FORM HERE or contact [email protected] for more information and to receive an application form.
When does the Local League season run?
The Local League season starts with grading in early September and runs until Champs Day in late March. There is no Local League hockey scheduled during the Christmas Break or March Break.

How many games and practices do we get with Local League hockey?
Local League teams are budgeted for 20 hours of shared ice practice and 20 games over the course of the season. Atom and Novice games are three 10 minute periods, while home games for older aged groups (PeeWee through Midget) are longer. Every effort is made to give all teams a balanced schedule for home and away games. Local League teams will usually be scheduled for 1 practice and 1 game each week, however some weeks a local league team may have a practice or game.
Is Local League open to both boys and girls?
All EHMHA hockey teams are open to both boys and girls. For ages PeeWee and up, female players will be provided with a separate dressing room.  (see also Dressing Room Policy)
How far do the Local League teams travel?
Local league games will consist of home and away games. Home games are played in either Erin or Hillsburgh against another Erin team or an Acton team. Away games are played in Acton against Acton teams only. Acton typically has 3-5 teams in each division.
