FAQ

How are Local League teams set up?
All Local League players participate in a grading session in the fall. Coaches are in the stands assessing players and then work together to draft their teams.

How can I become a local league coach or other bench staff?
Coaches are appointed by the Local League Director. Local League coach selections are generally not finalized until after the rep tryouts. If you are interested in coaching, please contact [email protected] for more information and to receive an application form.

When does the Local League season run?
The Local League season starts with grading in early September and runs until Champs Day in late March. There is no Local League hockey scheduled during the Christmas Break or March Break.

How many games and practices do we get with Local League hockey?
Local League teams are budgeted for 20 hours of shared ice practice and 20 games over the course of the season. Atom and Novice games are three 10 minute periods, while home games for older aged groups (PeeWee through Midget) are longer. Every effort is made to give all teams a balanced schedule for home and away games. Local League teams will usually be scheduled for 1 practice and 1 game each week, however some weeks a local league team may have a practice or game.

What night will my practices be?
Local League practice nights are as follows. Please don’t forget… this is only tentative, and is subject to change as team numbers are confirmed.
Novice:   Thursdays
Atom:     Wednesdays or Thursdays
Peewee: Tuesdays or Wednesdays
Bantam: Tuesdays or Thursdays

Is Local League open to both boys and girls?
All EHMHA hockey teams are open to both boys and girls. For ages PeeWee and up, female players will be provided with a separate dressing room.  (see also Dressing Room Policy)

How far do the Local League teams travel?
Local league games will consist of home and away games. Home games are played in either Erin or Hillsburgh against another Erin team or an Acton team. Away games are played in Acton against Acton teams only. Acton typically has 3-5 teams in each division.
