Welcome to our New EHMHA President
Submitted By EHMHA on Wednesday, February 5, 2020
Dear Members,

We are excited to announce that Sid Spear has been voted into the role of President by our Executive Board.  Sid brings with him a decade of experience in various roles within the EHMHA.

He would like to share the below message with all our members:

I would like to introduce myself for those who do not already know me, and offer a glimpse into my Hometown Hockey journey with Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association. My roots in the Town of Erin go back to the year 2000. Being the proud father of 3, I began my journey with EHMHA in 2010 as a volunteer coach with our CHIP program with my son Oscar. Since then, we have moved through life and hockey to what is now a decade later - Hello -2020! Wow that went fast!

We have experienced the full array of levels that our EH programs offer, from Chip to Local League, Select and Rep. Oscar as a player, and I as a Head Coach, Assistant Coach, Trainer, Non- Parent Coach and on/off - ice volunteer.

Four years ago, a member of our executive reached out to me and asked if I could help support the executive team, to which I agreed. Along with my love for coaching and my passion for hockey, I decided that supporting our members through work on the Executive level would be the next step in my hockey journey. I have held the roles of Risk Management & Local League Director, with the guidance of our past Presidents, Dennis Tondat and Arnie Brakel. I would like to thank them both for sharing their passion, hockey knowledge and countless volunteer hours. Our association could not exist without all the amazing volunteers, on & off the ice - you are the pillars of EHMHA.

With that said, I have now put on the Presidents hat, and it is with great honour that I take on this role. I embrace the opportunity for this next journey with all of you, to move Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey forward, and lead us into the next decade of Hometown Hockey.

I will be out at the rinks in the coming weeks- cheering on our teams, looking for your feedback and I look forward to meeting and sharing some of the great initiatives that both the EHMHA and OMHA have been working on for the remainder of this season and the future!

Our goal is to provide the kids of EHMHA the best hockey experience possible! Hockey for Life!
I would also like to encourage all members to review our Strategic Plan in order to better understand our vision for hockey in Erin.

Sid Spear
