On-Ice Support Outside of Rostered Coaches (Erin-Hillsburgh Minor Hockey Association)

PrintOn-Ice Support Outside of Rostered Coaches
All rostered bench staff (Coaches, Trainers, Managers) for EHMHA teams are required to have
completed specific qualifications and checks in order to hold their positions. From time to time,
coaches may look for assistance for on-ice help outside of their rostered bench staff. The below
provides policy and required procedure for their use.

Back-Up Trainers:

It is critical to have on-call, back-up trainers available at all times as it is mandatory to have a
qualified trainer in attendance at all practices and games1. The Head Coach is accountable to
ensure all trainers used are qualified to fulfil the role.
Alternate trainers need to fill out a volunteer form.

For details on Training qualification requirements, visit Hockey Trainers Ontario, reach out to your program

director or
[email protected].

For trainers to be listed on a game sheet they must be listed on an OMHA-
approved
team roster for that season and have the trainer specific qualifications. The opposing
team's trainer can be used as the trainer for both teams should you not have one
available.
They need to be requested and added to the game sheet. They are not
allowed to refuse your request.

Third-Party Development Resources:

If you would like to enlist third-party development resources for practices, the entire list below
must be met BEFORE they can step on the ice with the team:

The costs have been approved by all parents as part of the team budget procedure

They have their own insurance coverage and police check procedures in place

They are affiliated with Hockey Canada

Instructors are 4 years of age or older than the players on the team

You have notified the Technical Director
([email protected]) with the name of the
company or individual, how and what they are being used for, and the associated costs
as approved by parents

For questions or to obtain a list
of preferred EHMHA resources available, contact the
